Public Information Meetings on Hudson-Raritan Estuary Comprehensive Restoration Plan
Description: A series of meetings will be held to introduce the Comprehensive Restoration Plan to the public and provide an opportunity for stakeholders of each Planning Region to identify potential restoration actions that could implement the goals of the overall plan in their community. This information will aid in the revision and further development of the Plan and will help tailor the plan to meet local needs and opportunities.
The Estuary ecosystem has been degraded from centuries of industrialization and urbanization. This Plan provides the framework for an estuary-wide restoration. Restoring the Estuary will create a mosaic of habitats—where nature and people coexist and where the environment and economy receive balanced consideration—providing us with all the benefits the estuary can offer striving to be a World Class Estuary.

Subway Reefs... Sea Turtles on the 7
Description: Subway Reefs... Seas Turtles on the 7" In 2001 the MTA retired its fleet of Redbird subway cars. It gave the trains to states on the Atlantic coast to serve as artificial reefs for fish. The program has been successful in supporting the web of undersea life and attracts game fish, which in turn draws sport fishermen and scuba divers to the reefs. New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, South Carolina and Georgia have “reefed” about 1,000 subway cars in all from the MTA. Come hear Bob Martore, the Artificial Reef Manager from South Carolina’s Department of Natural Resources explain how subway cars help provide homes for marine life.

MWA Recreation Task Force Meeting
Description: For too many generations the waterfront has been neglected by government and inaccessible to the public. This has had a significant cost to quality of life to millions of people, the enviroment, the competitiveness of the region, and to the reputation of the our waterfront world-wide. Today, nearly 400 groups stand united to ensure the vision of the Waterfront Action Agenda is carried out.
We call upon citizenry and friends of the waterfront to understand the issues outlined in the Waterfront Action Agenda and tell your legislators we will no longer accept a waterfront walled off for the few. We call upon civic and political leaders to understand these issues and make all short and long-term policy and infrastructure decisions support the goals of the Waterfront Action Agenda.

International Symposium on Sustainability Science: The Emerging Paradigm and the Urban Environment
Description: Humankind does not live sustainably. Resources are extracted from the ecosystems that surround us faster than they can be replaced. These actions threaten the very life support systems that sustain us. A new paradigm for research, informed decision-making and development of science-based policy will be required at the very heart of the sustainability transition to reverse these non-sustainable trends. Leading international scientists, policy makers and decision makers will convene in a forum to address the sustainability challenge in seven thematic areas built around the emergence of sustainability science as a transdisciplinary tool to address sustainability issues.
